It was cold and wet at Fun's picnic held in Preston Park on Bank Holiday Easter Monday. However, displaying typical 'Fun' spirit everyone mucked in as usual and made the event a resounding success. Easter egg hunts, egg and spoon races and a piñata were just some of the activities on offer before the snow started and everyone headed for the cafe and some hot chocolate!
43 people in all turned up including 18 children, 18 befrienders , 4 parents/grandparents and 3 supporters. These events continue to be very important for Fun in Action as they provide the 'social glue' which binds together many of the charity's various participants.
After the event in the early evening organiser Anne McLaren received a telephone call from a 5 year old befriended girl. She rang to thank Anne (and everyone else) for “making their Easter nice.” We're deeply touched and pleased we were able to make Easter special for her and for all the other children and parents who attended.
