Wow, what a day! Beautiful weather and a record breaking turnout of 120 people helped to make this year’s BBQ the best ever!
We had more people come to this BBQ than ever before! Parents, children, current befrienders, new volunteers, staff, committee members and family and friends all turned out to enjoy a glorious day in the summer sunshine. This year (as every other) thanks must be given to Ralph Crane and the strong lads in his family for carrying their huge BBQ up to our spot behind Stanmer House and cooking up a feast. Everyone came with an offering for the Picnic Table and it was heaving with nourishment including gorgeous salads, rich chocolately treats and even homemade ice-cream!
There was never a break in the activity and the children played football, cricket, chased Frisbees, climbed trees, blew bubbles and got their faces painted. Papillion Face painters were kept busy ensuring that all of the children (young and old) got their faces painted…and their legs and their arms. Everyone got a chance to catch up with old friends and make new ones. Some new befrienders got to meet their befriendee children for the first time at the BBQ so there was a real air of excitement and promise at the event.
The day went well with lots of smiles and laughter all around. Happy Summer Holidays everyone!
